Saturn Sports Cars

Technical

The Saturn Sportscar has been based on the highly successful two seater roadster designed by Chris Gibbs and Martin Keenan and published by Haynes in the manual "Build your own Sportscar". The car is based on a space frame chassis with cross bracing and strengthening providing a very stiff yet light chassis which  suits a variety of engines upto a maximum power of 250hp.

Saturn Sports CarThe power of the engine is delivered through to the rear wheels either by limited slip or standard differential with the engine mounted far enough behind the front wheels to give the weight ratio of a mid engined car with a perfect balance to the front and rear. The car has the benefit of full independent suspension all round with full adjustable coil over dampers and easily adjustable camber and toe-in all round.

The Saturn car gives the ideal balance between long days out enjoying the country roads of the UK or for days out on the track rivalling the performance of most other significantly higher priced production cars. With the slightly longer and wider chassis from the normal "7" style roadster the Saturn can be enjoyed by taller driver (upto 6’6”) with fully adjustable steering column and seats.

The bodywork is made from gel coated glass reinforced plastic with colours and graphics to suit customer taste. Seats are made from contoured grp and are available in wide or narrow to give a body hugging and comfortable ride together with a 4 point harness giving the driver and passenger a firm and secure ride allowing all the handling of the Saturn to be felt by the driver.

Quotes of passengers and drivers of the Saturn Car:

"track day at Teesside autodrome & wow the Saturn was handling like a dream it was amazing the grip & control the car had going thru the bends etc, no body roll just totally planted, i,m still grinning like a madman, the Saturn car was fantastic, i also went out in a another 7 fitted with a kwack 1400 engine, yes it was slightly quicker but not as planted in the corners"

"you really do notice how little roll the Saturn has in the corners, its like its on rails, tho it did break away at one point & led to a controlled and great power slide"

"even when the back end was stepping out up at the hairpin bends it just seemed so under control, I’ll be honest with you, its the first time since my bike racing days that I've "felt" that adrenalin rush"
